Skyrocket Compost Returns, Powered by Community

Spring has officially arrived, and with it comes the return of a community-powered favourite: the Skyrocket Compost sale.
Each year, this initiative brings together local organisations, businesses, volunteers, and students to create something bigger than any one group could do alone. With generous support from the Strathcona Rotary Club, who purchase the compost, and transport provided by Edgett Excavating, more than 20 yards of Skyrocket Compost have arrived and are ready for bagging and sale at the Campbell River ReStore.
The effort to get everything ready is truly a team lift. Lake Trail School played a key role in setting up the site for bagging and sales, creating the foundation for a smooth and successful launch. From there, students from the Queneesh Elementary Montessori program jumped in to prepare the first 300 bags, with additional support from volunteers helping keep the momentum going.

Skyrocket Compost, produced by the Comox Valley Regional District, is a nutrient-rich soil amendment made from wood waste and biosolids, carefully cured to meet Class A compost standards. It’s a high-quality, sustainable option for gardeners looking to enrich their soil while supporting environmentally responsible practices.
More importantly, every bag sold helps build something far beyond the garden. Proceeds from ReStore purchases directly support Habitat for Humanity’s affordable housing work across Vancouver Island North.
At $5 for a 30L bag, Skyrocket Compost is an affordable way to invest in your garden and your community at the same time.
Supplies are limited, so be sure to stop by the Comox Valley ReStore and grab yours before it’s gone.
