Every volunteer makes a difference

Volunteers are the heart of Habitat for Humanity, and we wouldn’t be able to build homes or transform lives without their help. Join our team of volunteers by swinging a hammer, stocking shelves at ReStore, or helping out at our fundraising events to give a hand up to local families. No experience is necessary.

Email us at volunteer@habitatnorthisland.com to get started.

Administration, Marketing & Community Engagement Volunteer Roles

Administration Support

As an Administration Support volunteer, you become part of the steady foundation that allows Habitat VIN to operate smoothly every day. You may assist with data entry, managing databases, greeting visitors, answering phone calls, preparing materials for meetings or events, and supporting a wide range of office projects. While much of this work happens behind the scenes, its impact is felt across the entire organization—your reliability and attention to detail help ensure that staff and volunteers can focus their energy on building homes and serving families. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys organization, multitasking, and being a dependable presence on a busy, mission-driven team.

Marketing Support

In this role, you help shape how Habitat VIN is seen and understood in the community. You may research stories, write or edit content, review materials, and help prepare communications for social media, newsletters, websites, or print pieces. Your creativity and clarity help bring our mission to life, showing donors, volunteers, and partners how their support makes a real difference. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys storytelling, communication, and using their creative skills to inspire others to get involved.

Photographer

As a Photographer, you capture the moments that tell Habitat’s story better than words ever could. From the excitement of a special event to the progress on a build site or the smiles of volunteers and homeowners, your images help create a visual record of impact and possibility. These photos are often used in marketing, fundraising, and community outreach, helping more people connect emotionally with Habitat’s mission. This role is well-suited to someone with photography experience, their own equipment, and a passion for visual storytelling.

Special Events & Fundraising Volunteer Roles

Special Events & Fundraising Volunteer

As a Special Events & Fundraising volunteer, you help transform creative ideas into unforgettable community experiences. You might assist with decorating, setting up spaces, welcoming guests, supporting games and activities, helping with fundraising elements, or packing everything away at the end of the day. Our events are designed to be engaging and fun—such as Family Feud game nights, themed escape rooms, and other interactive community gatherings—while also raising vital funds for future Habitat home builds. Your energy and enthusiasm help create an atmosphere where people feel connected, inspired, and excited to support affordable housing in their community.

Fundraising Committee (Leadership Role)

The Fundraising Committee plays a strategic and collaborative role in shaping how Habitat VIN connects with the community and grows its support base. Meeting once a month, committee members work together to brainstorm and design creative fundraising and engagement events, coordinate logistics and volunteer needs, and build relationships with local businesses, sponsors, and community partners. You’ll also help reflect on each event’s outcomes, celebrating successes and identifying opportunities to grow our impact even further. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leadership, teamwork, and big-picture thinking, and who wants to make a lasting contribution to Habitat’s long-term success and community presence.

You can volunteer at special events without joining the committee. The committee is for those interested in a deeper, ongoing leadership role in fundraising and engagement.

Additional & Customized Volunteer Roles

Specialized Skills & Passion Projects

We believe some of the most meaningful volunteer roles are the ones created around the unique talents of our community. If you have a special skill or passion—such as repairing computers, organizing media collections, curating DVDs or books, working with technology, or offering a creative or technical ability—we would love to explore how it can support Habitat’s mission. Together, we can shape a role that feels fulfilling for you while creating real value for our ReStores, our events, or our administrative and marketing teams.

Every role at Habitat VIN, whether front-facing or behind the scenes, helps build more than homes. It helps build confidence, connection, and stronger, more resilient communities.
