Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North is looking for a reliable and community-minded ReStore Driver / Swamper to support donation pickups and deliveries for our Comox Valley Restore.

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys being on the road, working with people, staying active, and supporting a meaningful cause. Our ReStores help fund affordable homeownership while giving donated items a second life in the community.

About the Role

The ReStore Driver / Swamper is responsible for safely operating the ReStore truck, completing scheduled pickups and deliveries, assessing donated items, and providing friendly, professional service to donors and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete residential, business, and community donation pickups and deliveries.

  • Safely load, secure, transport, and unload donated goods.

  • Provide excellent customer service to donors and customers.

  • Assess donations for quality, condition, and resale potential.

  • Plan efficient routes and follow daily schedules.

  • Keep the truck clean, organized, and ready for use.

  • Complete vehicle checks, logs, forms, and required reports.

  • Follow all safety procedures and proper lifting practices.

  • Support ReStore staff, volunteers, and daily operations as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract.

  • 2 to 3 years of box truck or similar driving experience.

  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull 20 to 100 lbs with assistance when needed.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Reliable, professional, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of Google Maps, email, and basic computer programs.

  • Knowledge of the Comox Valley, Campbell River, and Vancouver Island region.

  • Ability to complete a Criminal Record Check.

Forklift certification, First Aid, HINO or HPR truck experience, and experience in logistics, moving, retail, warehouse, or nonprofit work are considered assets.
