Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North Wins 2023 Sustainability Award

We are thrilled to announce that Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North was the winner of the Sustainability Award at the 2023 Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce Gala on Saturday, January 27th.

Stefano Tromba, Director of Fundraising and Communications and Corinne Bjorge, Director of Family Services

We could not have won this award or made Habitat’s sustainability efforts a reality without the help of our volunteers. Their work at our ReStores to recycle, refurbish, and repurpose over 600 tons of products that would have found their way to area landfills is why we can accomplish these great things. It’s that dedication, skill, and genuine concern for our community and environment, along with the generous donations we rely on from local businesses and the public, who keep us sustainable.

We are honoured to have been selected alongside other great businesses and services in the community. Congratulations to all winners in every category.

Criteria for the Sustainability Award:

  • Has environmental and social sustainability embedded in their business model or strategy
  • Practices environmental responsibility and sustainability with clearly defined goals and actions that reduce impact on the environment and benefit the environment
  • Practice social responsibility that benefits their employees, customers, community, and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrates measurable results in environmental and social responsibility that provide an advantage for their overall success.
