On Monday, August 22nd, employees from Urban Systems joined us at our 477 Hilchey Road project in Campbell River for a Team Build Day.

Bright and Early

The team arrived at 8:30 am. After receiving their safety gear; including hard hats, high-visibility vests, and steel-toe boots, they participated in a welcome-to-site tour. By 9:30 am, they were ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work. Split into a few different groups, the teams worked on various projects, including some fire mitigation grounds work on the site of the next project and prep work to start converting the site office to a common building for the families living at Hilchey.

The team first removed lumber stored around the site office, being careful to salvage existing siding on the common building and de-nailing the boards. They then prepared the exterior of the building for a wrap by removing shelving units. They also helped out with mowing tall grass on the new site and general grounds care.

Work Hard Play Hard

At Habitat, we like to work hard, but we also play hard! We ensured the team was stocked up on freezies and snacks to keep them refreshed in the August heat. Each participant received a catered lunch and a Habitat T-shirt to keep. Watch this video for some of the best moments!
